T he first time a one tenth was mention in the Bible, was in Gen 28:22. Where Jacob told God he will give a tenth back to God, from the same money that God gave him in the first place.
Genesis 28:22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
THE TITHES WERE OFFER AND WAS FOR THE LEVITES AS THEY TOOK CARE OF THE PEOPLE SPIRITUAL NEEDS:
Numbers 18:24 (KJV) But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
The Levites only work was to do spiritual services and was to be paid by the tithes and offering offered by the people. From the tithes and offerings, widows, fatherless, strangers in needs were taking care of.
THE CHURCHES HAS BILLS TO BE PAID:
Every organization including hate groups has some kind of compulsory payment by members. The pastors alone cannot pay the bills; each members have to put in their parts in it. The church has light bills, water, cleaning, rent, most of all toilet papers to buy, because when people hear about hell they fill the toilet up with dodo. Some body has to buy those toilet papers. The toilet paper has to be flush by water; somebody has to pay for that water. Then the church has to pay somebody to clean those toilets. The pastor alone cannot pay those bills.
THEY MUST GIVE AS GOD PROSPERED THEM:
1 Cor. 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
THEY MUST GIVE HOW MUCH THEY WANT TO GIVE. NOTE THE WORD"" purposeth"
2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
It is important to know that what we give is what we will receive. God loveth a cheeful giver.
Four things a person must do in giving:
1. He must give willingly from the heart.
2. He must not give grudgingly.
3. He must not give of compulsion.
4. He must give cheerfully.
GIVING GRUDGINGLY.
Even though grace does not compel us to pay one tenth, it still do not prevent us from giving more.
TITHES PAYING ARE A VOW, YOU VOW HOW MUCH YOU CAN AND WILL PAY.
Psalm 50:10-14 (KJV) For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. [11] I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. [12] If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. [13] Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? [14] Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
THOSE WHO VOWS AND DO NOT KEEP IT:
Malachi 3:8-10 (KJV) Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. [9] Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. [10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
This is the only chapter in the Bible some pastors know. And they use it well.
Eccles. 5:4 (KJV) When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
Eccles. 5:1-2 (KJV) Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that, they do evil. [2] Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
THEY MUST GIVE IT UPON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK:
Luke 24:1 (KJV) Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices, which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Acts 20:7 (KJV) And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
The Doctrine of Tithing Tithing Before the Law of Moses:
(Genesis 14:20; Genesis 28:22; Hebrews 7:1-11). Tithing under the Law of Moses: 1. (Leviticus 27:30; Malachi 3:10)
2. The Purposes: (1) For Levites (Numbers 18:21-24) (2) Tithes of tithes for priests (Numbers 18:26; Neh. 10:37; Neh. 12:44) (3) Tithes of tithes every three years for the poor and the ministers (Deut. 14:27-29; Deut. 26:12-14) (4) To supply God's house (Malachi 3:10) (5) To honor God (Proverbs 3:9-10) 3. When brought: yearly, along with all other offerings for the feast (Deut. 12:6-7; Deut. 14:22-26) 4. Belonged to God, not the people who paid them (Leviticus 27:30-34; Malachi 3:8) 5. Where brought (2 Chron. 31:12; Neh. 10:38; Neh. 12:44; Neh. 13:5,12; Malachi 3:8)
Tithing In the New Testament:
1. Christ taught it (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42; cp. Matthew 5:20 with Luke 18:11-12; see Matthew 10:10; Luke 10:7-8). This was teaching for the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 11:11-14; Luke 16:16)
2. Paul Taught It: (2) Teachers to be paid (Galatians 6:6) (3) God ordained support of ministers (1 Cor. 9:7-14; 1 Tim. 6:17-18)
(7) Tithing is in some cases proof of obedience and appreciation of God's blessings. Note: that Hypocrites also pay tithes as a cover for their evil deeds. (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42; Luke 18:12)
(Romans 4:12; Hebrews 7:6-10; 1 Cor. 9:7-14; 1 Tim. 6:17-18; cp. Malachi 3:8-10; Proverbs 3:9-10; Genesis 14:20; Deut. 8:10-20)
Blessings of Tithing:
1. God's house will not lack (Malachi 3:10). 2. God's ministers will not lack (1 Cor. 9:7-14; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; Neh. 13:10; Malachi 3:8-10). 3. Material and spiritual blessings (Malachi 3:8-10; Proverbs 3:9-10; 2 Chron. 31; Neh. 13)
Examples of people paying Tithes:
1. Abraham (Genesis 14:20; Hebrews 7:1-11) 2. Jacob (Genesis 28:22) 3. Levi in Abraham (Hebrews 7:9) 4. Hezekiah and Israel (2 Chron. 31) 5. Nehemiah and Israel (Neh. 13) 6. Hypocrites (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42; Luke 18:12) 7. Christians (1 Cor. 9:7-14; 1 Cor. 16:2; 2 Cor. 7:11; 2 Cor. 8:1-15; Galatians 6:6; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; Hebrews 7)

Nine Commands to Timothy
